I bought my doppler in my second pregnancy after suffering a missed miscarriage with my first - found at our dating scan.
When I reached 10 weeks the second time around I was having horrendous anxiety thinking about going to my dating scan and having the same thing happen again, and my previous baby had stopped growing at 11 weeks so I ordered this doppler to try and hear the heartbeat before then.
We first attempted to hear the heartbeat at 10+4 weeks, and listened every other day after that. With patience, we found the heartbeat every single time! It was the most reassuring thing ever and I could listen every time I had a wobble.
There are some tricks to it:
* Lie down slightly reclined.
* Start low by the pubic bone, you might need to aim downwards slightly. Slowly move from side to side, and then gradually further up. At around 10 weeks we would often find the baby to one side, such as near the area where my ovaries were.
* Use a good amount of gel and push in quite firmly.
* Have a full bladder.
* If you don't have any luck, try again first thing the next day with an empty stomach and a full bladder.
* Be patient! If you don't find the heartbeat, it could just be that the baby's heart is a small target and the baby can move around in there too.
I have also used this monitor to record the heartbeat and the sounds of baby moving around in there. Precious memories to keep!
This was the best £30 I ever spent!
Five minutes after taking the parcel from the postman I was listening to my baby's heart beat. Its extremely easy to use and the sound is so clear. I looked at the instructions for 30seconds to work out inserting the battery (included) and switching it on. I squirted a small amount of gel on my belly, plugged the headphones in and placed it in the middle of my belly and straight away there was the heart beat- 152 beats/ min. Im 14 weeks pregnant, very slim and used it with a full bladder lying down. Great piece of equipment- was abit dubious as only 20 pounds but its the best twenty pounds Ive spent recently. I also recorded it to my phone. You can also use ipod type speakers instead of the headphones (its a universal jack) so everyone in the room can listen together. Product came next day after ordering with all parts listed. I would highly recommend it!
When our AngelSounds Fetal Heart Detector arrived we were both slightly negative about the outcome as we have another 'doppler' by another manufacturer which turned out to be a 'fetal listening device', completely useless.
We plugged in the headphones, applied the gel, place the sensor on my belly where i thought our baby girl was lying... Within seconds ... WOOSH WOOSH WOOSH! The most beautiful, loud and clear heartbeat.
So so pleased with this product. Would totally recommend this to a friend.
Im 24 weeks now, but my friend, who is 13 weeks has used mine and we found a heartbeat almost as quickly. I am also on the 'curvier' end of the scale - size 20 - and this seems to make no difference to the effectiveness of the product. I find it easier to use while lying down.

I bought this product as early on in preganancy at 15 weeks, you know the baby is there, you get fatter but you can't feel anything!! This is amazing you can hear the heart beat so clearly and send it on CD to relatives. The only thing is that you only get a tiny tube of gel which doesn't last so long. The product is so good however I am sure they know you will be clamouring for more gel.
It is also good to share the hearbeat with other siblings so they can connect to the newest member of the family and send the heart beat to my overseas relatives who can't share in my day to day development.
I love this product, it is easy to use and a great reassurance for first time mums in particular.

Sit most nights listening to our baby we have heard their heartbeat since 8 weeks and currently at 14weeks it's even better now!! So reasuring with being a first time mum. It comes with a small tube of gel to use but you need to order some more as this tube only lasts a few times. I have attached a small speaker in to the headphone section instead of headphones

I got this as my other half doesnt get to take time off work for my appointments so he doesnt get to hear his little girl's heartbeat. It works really well. I was lucky enough to have been to the midwife just 2 days before this arrived so I knew pretty much where to try and got the heart beat right away.
Dad was over the moon to hear it. I personally wouldnt use it to reassure myself if I suspected there was something wrong as you dont know what to listen out for unless you are trained but I think its great for when it seems like an age between appointments and you miss hearing your little one.

Bought this after I freaked out the first time that I did not feel the baby movement. I ended up going to the day assessment unit to get checked.
